Pub

Lucy is playing on the slide at the Coach and Horses

She is scoffing a bowl of rather fine chips. Daddy look like he would like a chip.

Daddy requests a chip from his beloved offspring. "No Daddy, they are my chips"

Biology

Lucy has spotted something interesting in the garden. She is using her magnifying glass to see what it is. She has clearly inherited some of her Uncle Colin's interest in the natural world.

She uses her ruler to try and measure the size of the creature.

Looks like she needs to get in a bit closer to get an accurate measurement.

This is what she had spotted. It is a little spider. Lucy is no stranger to spiders. Neither is Mummy. Mummy looks more worried.

Stickers

Lucy has stuck stickers all over her face

Apparently it is because it is funny

Check them all!

They don't in the slightest undermine her sense of decorum

New Running Shoes

Mummy and Lucy have both got new running shoes

Panda Returns

What a happy day. Lucy's best friend Panda has been "on holiday" for the past month or so.

It seems quite strange that his travel agent arranged for the last stop on his trip to be behind the telephone table.

Lucy doesn't care where Panda has been on his holidays. She is just happy that her best friend is back. And he even broke her a Panda hat as a present.

Lucy insists that Daddy tries on her new Panda hat. It is quite a tight fit.

It fits Uncle Matt very well though

Daddy

Lucy is cuddling her Daddy

That smile looks very natural, doesn't it!

Beard

Lucy uses a crayon to try and impersonate Daddies beard. Fails.

Red Dress

Looking like a fine piece of pizza.

Lucy grabs herself a cold one. Kronenbourg is her favorite. (Not really - she was helping to clear up after the party!)

Hello Mummy

Looks like there is some gardening to do around here

Jonny

Can there be a better way to end a birthday party? Jonny reads Lucy her night night story. From quite a distance it has to be said!

Cheers

Lucy and Uncle Stewby clink "glasses". Lucy looks suspicious.

Where's all my birthday cake gone?

Shoulder Rides

What a treat! Lucy gets a shoilder ride from her Grandad

I think she is enjoying it judging by her expression

Lucy commands Grandad to take her down the garden

Grandad takes a well earned break and Uncle Stewby takes over the Lucy carrying duties

"Take me back to Grandad slave"

Construction Work

Lucy is eager to get going with her PlayPeople adventure sets. But who can help her build them? After an initial wave of hope over experience with Mummy, who is not known for her construction skills, Lucy wheels in the big dog. Come on Grandad. Let's get this pwayground built.

Whilst most folks would acknowledge that Grandad was quite experienced, Lucy decides to take charge.

Grandad knows his place.

The chief architect works on some of the finishing details

Tabby McTat

Grandma and Grandad gave Lucy a fine selection of books for her birthday. This is especially appropriate since they got Lucy her fine bookcase where all her new books will live.

Lucy is a particular fan of the books of Julia Donaldson. She has most of her books, but there were a few missing and Grandma and Grandad cleverly spotted the ones she needed. She is particularly fond of the ones illustrated by Axel Scheffler and there was one that she did not have Tabby McTat. Lucy is entranced as Daddy reads it to her.

Did you enjoy your story Lucy?

Yes I did!

Photographer

Mummy has broke* Lucy a new camera. She has pretty much figured out how to use our real camera (Canon IXUS 990 IS) when she can remember not to put her thumb over the lens. However, she is chuffed to bit to get her very own camera.

But which idiot told her that it was really a water pistol and filled it up for her! (I'm looking at you Uncle Stewby!)

*broke = brought/bought in Lucy speak

Presents

Lucy is a very lucky girl. She has got loads of presents for her birthday. Jonny, Uncky Kev, Aunty Tiss and Aunty Sue look at her haul with barely disguised avarice.

Lucy starts opening her presents

Wow! A train full of books

Can't go far wrong with PlayPeople. (Officially they are now called PlayMobil but we all know they are really PlayPeople. PlayMobil were only called PlayPeople in the UK in the 70s and 80s but since that is when Daddy and Aunty Pink grew up with them - they will be PlayPeople for ever - we will not pander to the croissant eating Euromonkeys)

It's also important to pretend to look at the cards to see who the presents are from before getting back to the good stuff.

Mustache

Lucy has always demonstrated a fearsome jealousy towards certain mustachioed individuals on account of the extravagance of their upper lip fur. Yes, I'm looking at you Seleck. So in order to get even with these hirsute characters (watch it Clooney) Lucy has invested in her very own woolly lip snake.

Perfect. Nearly as good as her idol
