A Day in Richmond Park with Mummy

Mummy and Lucy are spending a day together in Richmond Park.

Lucy is rushing because she wants to get to the "prayground" near Petersham Gate.

She starts of having a nice pig ride

... before taking a more conventional horse ride.

Girls together.

Time for a swing

Slip slip sliding away

Lucy is certainly top dog

I can see some deer from up here!

Walking back up the hill to Pembroke Lodge where the car is parked, Lucy has a quick pit stop on a bench.

However, it is rather apparent that Lucy is really tired.

Even though she is tired, Mummy tricks Lucy into climbing the hill by playing real life Whac-a-Mole on the mole hills which go up the slope to the Lodge.

And of course there is always time to climb a tree.

Many dazed moles are waving clenched paws at Lucy just out of shot.

Finally at the top. What a great Mummy day.

Physics Lesson - Ice and Salt

Mummy and Lucy are having one of their regular science experiments. Lucy has noticed that folks put salt down when it is icy and asks Mummy why.

Mummy has the Ice and Saxo out in the blink of an eye so she can demonstrate to Lucy how salt can reduce the freezing point of Ice. She gets Lucy to add salt to one glass of Ice whilst the other one is a control.

After a couple of minutes it is clear that ice with the salt added is melting and the pure ice is not.

That is a pretty conclusive science experiment. Theory proven!

Lucy speculates that if she adds some salt to Mummy she might not have to wear her hat inside to keep warm.

Natural History Museum

Mummy and Lucy are visiting the Natural History Museum. For Christmas they have a fun fair and an Ice Rink outside.

This ice skating is easy.

Cor Blimey! That was close.

Think I'd better just shut my eyes.

Far safer with killer whales and dolphins.

Lucy visits some of her best friend Panda's predecessors

Lucy - meet Lucy.

After all that Nature it is time for a huge lolly.

Bottle Garden

Mummy is reading Lucy a book about how to create bottle gardens

I wonder if making a bottle garden is going to be Mummy and Lucy's next big project?

Fish Words

At Lucy's school fish word are short simple words that are written on fish shaped bits of paper. The idea is that every day the kids practice their fish words and over time start producing simple sentences.

Rather than using little scraps of paper with the words on, Mummy decided to be a bit more ambitious and created this fish word chart for the living room using Velcro to stick the words on.

Mummy is very proud of her fish word chart.

It has this many fish words! Good job Lucy is learning English otherwise the fish word chart would need to be a bit more complicated

Mummy is particularly pleased with the shark.

Pumpkin

Lucy and Mummy are making a scary pumpkin carving for Halloween. Lucy drew the picture of a face on the pumpkin and Mummy is cutting it out.

Lucy has her bucket of sweets to hand to the local urchins who come begging at her door.

Truth be told there have been better pumpkin carvings but it is a good first try.
