Chips with Si and Milly
Our epic quest around Mortlake and Barnes takes in The Ship and Ye White Hart and then finishes at the Coach and Horses after a bracing walk along the Thames toe path (pub crawls used to be longer before young un's came along!). Mummy is manfully trying to take a group photo of the old friends but the girls cannot stop shovelling chips down their necks.

Mummy asks the girls to stop eating chips. They decline.

Mummy observes that she has been unable to take a good picture because the girls insist on cramming their beaks full of potato products. The girls think this is hilarious and replace troughing with a fit of the giggles. It is agreed that the photos are good enough.

Return to Mortlake
Since Uncle Si and Millie have come down from Lincolnshire and are staying over for a couple of extra days after the Birthday weekend we thought we would take the opportunity to revisit some of our old stomping ground from when they still lived in civilisation as well.
This involved a trip the TJ's breakfast emporium (aka Greasy Spoon) followed but a wander round some of the local hostelries. On our way to The Ship we stumbled upon a prayground in Mortlake a mere squirrel's parp away from where Mummy and Daddy used to live.

Millie showed her inner ape on the monkey bars (much harder than it looks)

Lucy wasn't really putting her back into the seesaw

Much more like it on the swinging pole

Yippee!

Lucy's other 5th Birthday Party
It's the start of Lucy's other Birthday Party. Jake is already smiling which is a good start to events.

Uncle Marcus is holding little baby Dylan.

Little baby Dylan can fly!

Holly calms the flying baby down (not really - he loved it)

Here is not so little Temujin coming back from a stroll round the garden

While the kiddies play the adults get a good chance for a gossip

Temujin contemplates painting his Mummy Alexis' face.

Zombie Apocalypse! Nope - just Millie as a vampire

The two fearsome creatures devour their prey. Or at least ham sangwich and Twigglets.

As specially requested - Lucy's Birthday cake is a ladybird

Lucy has a chat with Marcus, Holly and Alexis

Possibly the best treat of them all - Millie reads Lucy her bedtime books.

Lucy's 5th Birthday Party
Looks like pretty much everything is ready for the kiddies party. Balloon fountain. Check. Food. Check. Drinks. Check.

Mummy and Aunty Tiss prepare for the tribe of 5 year olds to arrive.

Aunty Tiss is left in charge of the Crown making department.

Milly kindly steps into the face painting chair. Of course Lucy is her first customer.

Mummy takes a turn painting Frazer

Frazer looks around desperately for Milly but she is long gone. Mummy will have to do.

At last the cat/badger/zebra hybrid is complete.

Frazer has a rest.

Look how clean the Bouncy Castle is.

The Adults get a chance to have a breather.

Well not all of them. Beloved Jonny is much in demand.

Pass the parcel is a huge success with Daddy and Uncky Kev in charge.

Aunty Tiss is starting to show the signs of child fatigue.

How many 5 year olds can you get onto a bouncy castle designed for 3? Answer - all of them. Especially when they are being chased down the garden by a GruffelSue.

Uncky Kev shows a surprising aptitude for face painting when Milly realises that she has missed out.

Aware that her reputation as prime paint facer is under threat, Milly retakes the artists seat.

Lucy blows out the candles on her hedgehog cake.

As things begin to wind down, Daddy reads Lucy one of her new story books.

The GruffelSue gets to take a rest from child herding

A pair of old fish wives

And what a treat to finish of a very exciting day, two Aunties read a very happy and tired little girl her bedtime stories.

Cleaning a Bouncy Castle
Just days away from Lucy's birthday party and Daddy realises that the bouncy castle is in a terrible state having been left out over the winter. But how to clean such a large and unwieldy bit of kit? The obvious solution was to hang it up in a tree and then inflate it giving 360 degree access for cleaning purposes.

The next job was to find a willing assistant. Suitably outfitted with the appropriate protective gear of course.

Impressive as her protective equipment was - Lucy got soaked.

But she doesn't mind. It's great fun.
