Great Granny

Lucy is down on the coasts visiting her Great Granny.

Lucy demonstrates her athletic abilities to Granny

When you see Granny and Lucy sitting together like this it is clear to see the family resemblance.

A lovely group featuring three of four generations.

And three lovely girls

Spiders at the Natural History Museum

Lucy is at the Natural History Museum. Even before you go in it is a pretty impressive place.

The main hall is a bit more spectacular than our front room.

Lucy starts studying the science

Cripes - this looks like a pretty big spider!

By Jiminy - THAT is a big spider. I'm not sure that you would want that walking out of your bath.

Yorkshire Puddings

In Lucy's house Yorkshire Puddings are as valuable as a Higgs Boson particle in the Large Hadron Collider. Lucy and Mummy battle over the last one.

Strange Cowgirl

Sometime pictures just have to speak for themselves

Tilly the Donkey

Lucy is going for a Donkey ride. Her Donkey is called Tilly.

In preparation for the long 100 yard slog up the beach, Tilly loads up on hay.

Fortunately Lucy finds it very amusing that Tilly is having her lunch.

Lucy's donkey wrangler seems to be worried about inclement weather

Lucy is riding Tilly like a Boss

No you can't have a pony.

Pier

Looks like Lucy has made a new friend.

And another one on the roof!

Ho ho and a bottle of Rum

Fairy Cake

Mummy and Lucy are choosing what pudding they would like after having a lovely lunch in a boutique cafe in Bath

Lucy chooses a fairy cake

She is particularly fond of it because it has an Aunty Pink baiting butterfly on it.

Roman Baths at Bath

Lucy and Panda are visiting the Roman baths in, well, Bath. They provide special devices that give an audio commentary as you are walking around. They have a special audiotour for children. Sadly there is no audio tour for Pandas so he has to share Lucy's.

As you walk around the baths there are signs which show the number you need to tap in to get the appropriate recording. Lucy can do this all by herself.

Apparently Romans were fond of bathing in pea soup.

Can't resist a cheesy photo opportunity

Lucy gets an update from Belator and Apulia

Looks like someone has over done the Radox. (This is because tiny plants called algae grow in it. In Roman times the roof over the bath would have kept the light out and so stopped the algae from growing)

The commentary is telling Lucy that it is time to go. We have a chance to try drinking the water in the visitors center. The Romans (and indeed many other people before and after them) believed that the water held magical properties that could heal the sick. However, it tasted disgusting and Mummy still had a dodgy knee after drinking it.

Blowup Bed

Uncle Stewby brought a lilo to Aunty Lorna's holiday paradise.

Rather than use it in the swimming pool, Lucy decides that it should be her bed.

Panda and Tinkerbell the flower fairy are invited to share her lovely new bed.

It is also quite convenient since she can still watch Star Wars on the TV.

Obviously it needs a nice nug to finish it off.

After a good time

Lucy has had a very exciting time at Longleat

So not a great surprise that she flakes out in the car. Even in sleep she can still hold onto her lolly like Aunty Pink and a glass of Sauvignon Blanc.

Water World

In Longleat there is an Adventure Castle area for when you need a rest from wildlife. Children are immediately attracted to the Splashpad bit where random water jets are projected from the floor to their delight and amusement. Last time we came we were unaware of the Splashpad so Lucy got very wet and we had nothing for her to change into. Forewarned this year we took her swimming costume and a towel.

As predicted Lucy got very wet.

A small amount of smugness crept in as we saw all the other children getting drenched in their normal clothes.

Sadly our attempt to teach Lucy how to say schadenfreude was less successful than our packing

Simples

These meerkats seem pretty laid back as they hunt for insects under this bit of rotten bark.

Lucy leans over to offer the Namibian Desert Mongooses some advice on finding insects.

Suddenly it is high alert in meerkat world. Next time it might be better to send them a letter with insect hunting tips. They are jumpy little fellas.

Lorikeets!

We are at the Lorikeet Aviary at Longleat Animal Adventure. Lucy is pleasantly surprised how close she can get to these little parrot fellas.

Little does she realise that these are really friendly parrots who love making friends.

Lucy decides that this one is called Parroty.

We decide Lucy is called Parrot Butt Head

Lucy tries to encourage Parroty to climb on her arm again

Parroty is more than happy to oblige

Lucy has decided that she likes Lorikeets
