Old Bill

Mummy and Daddy took Lucy for a Sunday morning stroll in Richmond Park. As we got out of the car park Mummy spotted a despicable Policeman with a speed camera trying to catch out innocent motorists who are doing their best to keep to the ludicrous 20 mph speed limit. "Pigs", shouted Mummy under her breath. Not quite so funny moments later when we passed the Policeman and Lucy shouted "Pig!". Time for swift exit.

Lucy checks the see if the scuffers are following her.

Apparently Police dogs cannot follow your scent if you walk in water.

I fought the law and the Spork won

Little Chair

A little while ago Grandma and Grandad got Lucy her own little chair. She likes sitting in it now.

Nug

When the weather started getting a bit colder we started augmenting Lucy's sleep suit with a snuggley blanket. Lucy can't quite manage to say snuggley yet so she just demands her Nug.

Kinky Boots

Aunty Lorna was round wearing her high heeled boots. Lucy loves trying on other peoples shoes so she gave Lorna's a go.

Even with Lucy's great big flippers it is pretty clear that the boots are a bit on the large side. She still manages to have a dance with Mummy though.

Rock Star

Looks like Lucy has got herself a microphone.

She might have to work on her technique a bit though.

Supper in Pajamas

Mummy and to a slightly lesser extent Daddy are quite strict with Lucy*. One rule is that meals are in her high chair at the dinning table. And where possible particularly at weekends with Mummy and Daddy eating at the same time as well. We really want to instill in her the social side of eating. But our trip back from Yorkshire was quite long and Lucy quite understandably got a bit upset towards the end. So as a treat we put her in her pajamas and gave her a bit of comfort food in front of "In the Night Garden"

Eggs over easy and crumpets**.

* Mummy may dispute this :-)
** OK Chris. They are thick Pikelets

Lunch in Leeds

It's a tradition that the day after Jonny's Birthday bash Grandma and Grandad treat everyone to a slap up meal in a posh pub in Leeds. Grandma loaned Lucy her note pad and PostIt notes to distract her while we wait for the meal to arrive. It works spectacularly well. Mum really understands kids. That is why she was such a well loved reception class teacher and more recently is a famous children's author. Grandad looks on approvingly, not least because recently Lucy has started referring to him as "Dad Dad". Not 100% accurate but close enough to make a few of us pretend there is something in our eye.

Of course as soon as her bowl of fresh fruit arrives for pudding, no distraction is required.

This is not a bad impersonation of Terry Thomas

Jonny's Birthday

Jonny will be horrified that he is on the Interweb with his little cousin Lucy. But it is a smashing photo. And he has grow up to be a smashing chap. Happy 16th Jonny.

Lucy holds court with her Aunty Sue and Aunty Tiss. They seem to be captivated by her witty and erudite soliloquy.

Grandma and Mummy look on as Lucy plays with Jonny's birthday balloons.

Fish Tank

We're over in Leeds for cousin Jonny's 16th birthday. In the reception of Marlow's chip oil they have a fish tank. What child doesn't like to press their nose into glass when Daddy is on the other side with a camera.

Of course she is also enjoying the fish.

Mummy and Aunty Sue point out the interesting stuff.

London Aquarium

Mummy takes Lucy to the London Aquarium. Before hitting the fish Lucy gets fortified with a smoothie.

Lucy starts of with some smaller fish.

The she moves onto some of the bigger fellas. Shark!

Lucy isn't scared. She has her bottle to hide behind.

Beach

Lucy visits the sea side for the first time with Mummy and Nana Moo.

Luckily it is lovely weather.

Nana Moo helps Lucy select some fine stones from the Beech.

They share a nice moment looking out to sea.

Singing Club

Once a week Lucy and her friends go to Singing Club. For Lucy it is also dance club. She loves cutting a rug.

Georgia and Lucy tear up the dance floor

You sing it I'll hum it say Lucy and Georgia.

Lucy, Dylan and Georgia take a break.

Lucy, Georgia and Dylan pose with child minder Vera together with Dylan's Mum and Mummy.

Hope it's chips it's chips

So what major food groups has Lucy been missing out on? Gah! She has still never sampled a chip (for American readers that means French Fries (for stupid Americans that means Freedom Fries)). Clearly we weren't going to spoil her first chip experience with some drab straight version. Only the best for our girl. Crinkle cut.

Obviously they were oven baked rather than deep fried to ensure they were healthy. And we served them with loads of peas. She left the peas. Of course.

Puddles

I think it is pretty well established now that if Lucy is going to go out on a winters day then the penguin hat is compulsory.

Stomp, stomp, stomp, stomp, splish, splash, splosh.

And now for a bit of hand jive.

Yeah! It's stopped raining. Bye bye penguin hat and puffa jacket. Stomp stomp. (Notice how wet those trousers are!)

Pretty Dress

This certainly is a very pretty dress although I'm not sure how impressed Lucy is by it.

Tuesday 4 November 2008

Playing around

One of Lucy's favorite song is now "Heads Shoulders Knees and Toes". I can't claim that she has mastered all the moves but she has certainly got the start position sorted.

And if she gets bored throwing her upside down normally revives her humour.

Sunday 2 November 2008

Great Nanny and Grandad Ray

It could be you! Great Nanny spots the camera.

Lucy and Grandad Ray framed by the sun through the curtains making this a rather magical image (clicky for bigger to see what I mean).

Grandad Ray tries to teach Lucy about digital photography. Or is it the other way round?

Saturday 1 November 2008

Out in the Rain

Lucy and Mummy brave the elements to watch a few fireworks in the rain.

Pint of Sausage

Aunty Piiink and Uncle Stewby have moved to a palatial gaff near Twickenham Stadium. Lucy and Makka Pakka (amongst others) have come to celebrate their house warming.

By way of snacks Stew has popped a few cocktail sausages in a glass as an interesting serving vessel. Surely no one would be so naive to actually think that you can drink everything that comes in a glass?

A triumph of hope over experience.
